The Neston Ecumenical Singers
“In tune together”

The choir was founded in 1981, at the suggestion of the late Rev. Ronald Kidd, to perform Stainer’s ‘Crucifixion’ in Neston Parish Church, during Holy Week, under the Musical Director, Mr. Tony Davies. Choir members then suggested that they should sing at a Carol concert that year.

Since then the pattern has continued for Christmas and Easter. Carols are sung at the different Denominational Churches in Neston. Following the retirement of Tony Davies as MD (though he is still an active member of the choir) other conductors have kept the choir active, and under our present conductor, Will Hay, we meet every Monday evening at Parkgate & Neston United Reformed Church.

The repertoire has enlarged, and the choir has performed such works as Bach’s St. Matthew Passion, St. John’s Passion, both Faure’s and Rutter’s Requiems, Handel’s Messiah and many other items. The choir is often requested to sing at local weddings. The members contribute annually to a larger choir that attends a ‘Come and Sing’ performance at Liverpool Anglican Cathedral.

The subscription for membership currently stands at £30/year payable in September though there is a concession for young unwaged members.
